The Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) urged existing voters to update their details while encouraging first-time voters to register during the registration weekend on 18 and 19 November 2023.
Visit your voting station during the voter registration weekend between 08:00 and 17:00. To find your correct voting station, use the IEC voting station finder app at https://maps.elections.org.za/vsfinder/
Alternatively, visit the Overstrand IEC office in 50 Main Road, Hermanus (near the post office) during office hours or you can register to vote or check and update your registration address online at registertovote.elections.org.za.
All South African citizens aged 16 years or older can register, but to vote, you have to be 18 years or older.
To register, you must have either a green bar-coded ID book or smartcard ID; or valid temporary identity certificate (TIC).
You must also provide an address where you live so that the IEC can place you in the correct ward and voting district. The IEC needs no proof of address.
You need to re-register when:
- Your home address changes.
- If IEC informs you that your voting district boundaries have changed.
